For example, pushing into enemy territory becomes too risky, and thus players adopt more static and defensive tactics in order to maximise the effectiveness of their units and play it safe. The problem with 'realistic' damage is that it compromises several of the gameplay mechanics that made vCoH a competitive and dynamic game.
